About me, Grit Ranft:
Though I’m not born in Munich, I’m really enthusiastic about this city and living here for almost 20 years together with my husband and our 2 daughters. Together we are enjoying life in the “Metropole with heart” also called the probably “northernmost city of Italy”, just to name two of Munich’s nicknames. Due to my studies and employments I had already lived in Dublin, London and Stockholm und discovered these cities on numerous tours. That’s the reason why I’m still happy, that I could fulfill one of my dreams in 2014 by qualifying as a licensed guide of the city of Munich. Because it is also very important to me to impart knowledge about recent history, I also qualified as a licensed guide for Dachau Memorial Site.
Since then I enjoy to share my enthusiasm about Munich with my guests, no matter if they are an international tourist group, school classes, short-term vacationers interested in culture or inhabitants of Munich eager for knowledge. It is fascinating how this city can be discovered under different aspects again and again. That’s why I’m enjoying to evolve single topic tours and to roam Munich’s historic city center under certain aspects. Last year for example I picked the topic “history of protestantism in Munich” – a fascinating topic! But not only the historic city center, also the quarters have a certain appeal in all their details. And many more tours will certainly follow my tours “Haidhausen” and “Neuhausen”.
Gladly you may also accompany me to the “Auer Dult”, Viktualienmarkt or the Christkindlmarkt, where you will learn a lot about typical traditions and can treat yourself to one or two Munich treats.
I’m looking forward to sharing my view of Munich with you!
Until then: best wishes
