Where the heart always beats a little faster.

So small, but so nice: Salzburg – Austria’s fourth largest city, but perhaps its most famous. Not only was a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart born here, but also the brilliant conductor Herbert von Karajan, who began his career in his home town. For centuries, prince-bishops have turned their royal seat into a baroque jewel case, so that Salzburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. No matter for what reason you visit Salzburg, this city will enchant you.

SALZBURG – Austria

The salt trade made the city rich and important, thus the Hohensalzburg Castle was built to protect it. The fortress is still presenting itself lofty and mighty above the city today. As in many other cities in southern Germany, the magnificent baroque style triumphed here since the 17th century. As always, it was all about the display of power, pomp and wealth, all achievements that are still visible everywhere in the city today.

One of Salzburg’s epithets is “Mozart City“, because one of the most brilliant composers of all times was born here: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg on 27 January 1756 in the famous Getreidegasse. You can still visit his birthplace nowadays. But it is not only this street that honours its most prominent son. Mozart is omnipresent and his portrait smiles at the visitor from plates, cups, caps and from the delicious Mozartkugeln. Somehow this Wolfgang always seems to want to come around every corner.

Architecture, music, baroque, mountains and the famous story of the Trapp family, which was filmed in Salzburg and the surrounding area in 1965 and went down in film history as one of the greatest musicals of all time under the title “The Sound of Music”. The film won five Oscars and numerous American guests are still connected to the city through this film.

All this is Salzburg!

Whether you choose this tour to go shopping, to marvel or just for the sheer pleasure of Salzburg’s beauty, the unique flair of this city will capture you and make your tour an unforgettable experience.

If there is any time left…

  • The city of Salzburg offers so much art and culture that you can easily spend a whole day in the city of Mozart. We recommend that you simply let yourself drift and plan any activities spontaneously.
  • Not far away – in Bavaria – the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest) is located on the Obersalzberg. It is possible to connect the two sights depending on the length of stay in Salzburg
  • City and nature? Also “just around the corner” in Bavaria you will find the beautiful Königssee, embedded in the high alpine mountain region of the Watzmann massif
