Enjoy your meal or „An Guadn“ as we say in Bavaria!
On this delicacy tour, you will not only learn everything you need to know about the history and tradition of the market, but you will also get a real culinary treat! The many anecdotes associated with this special place in the the city center are particularly good to listen to while tasting and enjoying.
Nestled between the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Schrannenhalle and the Metzgerzeile is the Viktualienmarkt – today one of the most important sights of the city. In the beginning, the stalls on the Viktualienmarkt were assigned to the traders on a daily basis, but today they are leased more or less for life. The typically green stalls with their colorful awnings and umbrellas characterize its unique appearance. Here you can drift for hours between meat, sausage, game and poultry, cheese, fish, fruit and vegetables, bakery products, exotic fruit juices and seasonal specialties such as asparagus and mushrooms, the scent of flowers and spices.
For this very special culinary tour, our partners have delicious treats ready for you at their market stalls. While you enjoy them, you will be served interesting facts about history, originals and customs around the Viktualienmarkt as a “side dish”.
You can expect numerous delicacies, such as:
- Hearty Bavarian and Franconian sausage dishes
- Hearty delicacies made from fresh milk
- Fragrant delicacies from the local bakery
- Healthy delicacies from the Bavarian Oberland
- International delicacies from our foreign residents
And should you still have ears for us while tasting, we will be happy to tell you by which coincidence the original Munich Weißwurst was invented, why the potato had a hard time in Bavaria in the beginning or why it is difficult to bake proper pretzels outside of Southern Germany.
Enjoy these delicacies in a unique setting, and perhaps extend your stay here in Munich’s most central beer garden, which with its approximately 1,000 seats is also part of the Viktualienmarkt.
Munich tastes delicious – let us surprise you!
